There is a new look in Cuero. Over the weekend, Bob Farris Chevrolet consolidated with and is now a part of Partners Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC.

The announcement also marks the retirement of Bob Farris who had the Chrevolet dealership here for 32 years.

Seven staff members of Farris Chevrolet made the move to Partners including Ronnie Farris, son of Bob Farris.

He joins Paul Holcomb, Sr. and Paul Holcomb, Jr., also a father-son team, at Partners.

Bob Farris' career started in 1949 inHouston. Once he and wife Maxine decided to own a dealership, they drove to Cuero.

“There were only five Chevrolet dealerships available in Texas at that time and one was in Cuero,” Bob Farris said. “We put our children in the station wagon and drove here. We fell in love with Cuero.”

In 1976 they purchased Duckett Motor Company and launched their new business here.

“It's always been a pleasure being here and meeting the people and making friends,” said Farris.

The Holcombs purchased their dealership here almost four years ago and agreed with Farris. “This is a special town,” said Paul Holcomb, Jr., “we were not only welcomed by the community but by the other car dealers as well.”

Paul Holcomb, Sr. added, “We are thrilled that Ronnie has come with us and will continue the Farris name here after 32 years with Chevrolet. There have been a tremendous amount of people in this community that have depended on Farris Chevrolet.”

Holcomb said their goal is to make the transition as seamless as possible. He said with the addition of the Farris Chevrolet employees, Partners will now have 20 employees.
