Donal Strain

Seguin- Donal Ethan Strain, 82, , passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at his home in McQueeney. He was born August 28, 1925, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to William J. and Myrtle Shouse Strain. He married Dottie J. Jones on February 21, 1944, in St. Louis, Mo.

He served in the Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1945, based out of Italy; as a Radio Gunner. Don began his career as an independent electrical contractor and worked for Texas Eastern for 14 years.
His overseas career spanned from 1969 until 1993 in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, North Africa, West Africa, Columbia, Ecuador and Oman. He worked stateside for 2 years building compression stations from West Texas to California. Don was a lifetime member of the Cuero Masonic Lodge and a member of the VFW.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years: Dottie Strain of McQueeney, daughter: Donna and Darryl J. Berger of Cuero, son: Danny and Sharon Striedel Strain of Seguin, granddaughters: Deborah & Tim Bourland, Deanna and Maj. Steve Greiner, DVM., Sherie and Thad (Bubba) Dickson, grandsons: D.J. and Elizabeth Berger, and Darren Ethan Strain, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 26, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 27, 2 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Steve Byrne officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Darren Strain, Thad Dickson, Steve Greiner, Tim Bourland, James Phillips, and D.J. Berger.
