Elvis is back
Call off the Texas Rangers, the Elvis lamp has returned! The Elvis lamp will make its comeback at the 2010 Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture Membership Social and Awards Banquet on Thursday, Jan. 28, beginning at 6 p.m. at St. Michael's Parish Hall. Elvis will be awarded to yet another deserving person in our community that evening, so don't miss out on seeing this in person. Tickets are $10 per person and available at the Chamber office or from any Chamber Director.
Chamber celebrating 100th
Cuero Chamber of Commerce will turn 100 years old in 2010. The Chamber wants you to help celebrate this momentous occasion by attending the 100th Annual Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture Membership Social and Awards Presentation on Thursday, Jan. 28 at St. Michael's Parish Hall located at 104 N. McLeod. The Membership Social is from 6-8 p.m. with the Awards Presentation at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and are now available from any Chamber Director or at the Chamber of Commerce office. Eastern Star pancakes
Order of the Eastern Star will host a Pancake Supper Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Masonic Lodge from 5 - 8 p.m. Dine in or plates to go are available for a $6.00 donation. The meal will be all you can eat.
Little League registration
Cuero Little League registrations for ages 4 to 15 will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10 to 1 at the Cuero Little League Complex. The registration fee is $80 for the 2010 season. For families that have more than one child playing the fee is $75 per child. A birth certificate copy and three proofs of residency required.
Old Chisholm Trail dance
Old Chisolm Trailride kick-off dance, sponsored by Rawhide Riders, Inc. will be Friday, Jan. 29, at the American Legion Hall from 8:00 p.m. - 12:00. Music by Country Crossfire. Badges will be available for purchase for the trailride.
Shrove Tuesday pancakes
Men of Grace Episcopal Church will hold their annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Proctor Hall, 102 E. Live Oak. Pancakes (plain, blueberry or pecan) and grilled pan sausage will be served at 5:30 p.m. The griddles close at 7:00 p.m. The price of “all you can eat pancakes” is a mere $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 10. Drinks provided are orange juice, milk and coffee. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Stock Show entry cards
All 4-H and FFA members planning on exhibiting animals in the Cuero Livestock Show, must turn it their entry cards and money to the Ag Science teachers or the County Extension Office by 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1. If this deadline is not met, exhibitors will be able to turn in late entries through Feb. 15 however each entry will be $100. Baseball umpires needed
Cuero Little League is looking for men and women interested in umpiring for the 2010 season. Umpire fees and uniform are included. Umpire registration is January 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. and February 13th from 10 to 1. All umpires must attend a Little League sponsored umpire clinic.
Christmas scenes half-price

Taste of Trail date set
Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum board of directors has set April 17 as the date for “Taste of the Trail,” the biennial fundraiser for the museum. “Taste of the Trail” will be held at the Robert Oliver Ranch, and will be a fun evening of food, libations, auctions, and entertainment to celebrate the area’s ranching and cowboy heritage. Invitations will be sent and ticketing information made available in early March. City to observe holiday
In observance of President’s Day, City Hall and City Administration Offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 15, and reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 16. The sanitation schedule will be: Monday routes will run on Tuesday; Tuesday routes will run on Wednesday along with commercial routes; Thursday and Friday routes will remain the same. The Citizens Collection Center will be closed Monday, Feb. 15, and will reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Volunteers needed here
Caring volunteers are needed for rewarding work as advocates for nursing home residents. Ombudsmen visit nursing homes to promote quality care and to protect resident’s rights. Free initial and ongoing training is provided and no prior experience is required. Volunteers are needed in DeWitt county.
