Lady Gobblers add two wins to remain unbeaten in District play

The Cuero Lady Gobblers kept their unbeaten district streak alive last week with a thrilling three point victory over the Yoakum Lady Bulldogs and a very convincing win over Palacios.
The Lady Gobblers and Lady Bulldogs met on Tuesday night in a very physical contest. The Gobblers and Bulldogs went back and forth in the first half, with Yoakum taking a three point lead into halftime.
Right out of halftime, Jennah Lind hit a long three to tie the game, one of several she would hit in the second half. Much like the fist half the Gobblers and Bulldogs went back and forth, playing aggressive defense. No team would lead by more then five points. With just seconds to go, it appeared as if the Gobblers would escape with another one point win over the Bulldogs, but a late foul allowed for two free throws to make the final score 47 - 44.
Scoring Line: Victoria Weisman 6, Kelsey Washington 13, Kendra Schumacher 1, Sha’Neal Mayfield 12, Jennah Lind 15.
Following the exhilarating victory of the Lady Bulldogs, the Lady Gobblers hit the road to take on Palacios on Friday night.
Unlike Tuesday night, the Gobblers got out to an early lead and coasted to the victory over the Sharks.
“We are more than half way home,” said Coach Fryer. “You don’t want to overlook anyone at this point, so we will just keep working hard and hope it all works out for us.”

Next up for the Lady Gobblers will be Goliad on the road this Tuesday night, and then a home contest against the Gonzales Lady Apaches on Friday night.
