Gobblers open play with Beeville
The Cuero Gobblers return to the field this Friday night, and begin their run for a state championship against the Beeville Trojans.

Gobbler history exhibit ready
The History of Gobbler Football 1911-1941 will be ready for public viewing this September at the Cuero Heritage Museum located at 124 East Courthouse Street according to Mike Weber, vice chairman of the museum board.

CHS girls third at Victoria
The Cuero Lady Gobblers competed in the Victoria Memorial Tournament over the weekend. After winning the St. Joseph tournament last weekend, hopes were high for repeat success.

Registration for Sept. Hunter Education Course begins
A Hunter Education Course sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be held on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14, from 1 to 7 p.m. each day at the Hochheim Prairie Insurance Building in Yoakum. Students must attend both sessions and pass and examination for certification. Every hunter born on or after September 2, 1971, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Training Course. Under this requirement, the f0llowing apply: If you are age 17 and over, you must successfully complete the course. If you are age 9 through 16, you must successfully complete the course or be accompanied by a licensed hunter 17 years of age or older. If you are under the age of 9 years of age, you must be accompanied by a person 17 years of age or older licensed to hunt inTexas. The minimum age for certification is 9 years and the cost of the course is $15.00. This course is accepted for certification in all 50 states and all Canadian Provinces. Registration prior to the course is mandatory. Only and absolute maximum number of 50 students will be allowed to attend the course. Students who have registered prior to September 13, and prior to the class attaining its maximum number will be guaranteed a seat. Saturday walk ins will be asked to wait for cancellations and may not receive a place for the course. Students should bring pencils, pens, and highlighter, and have knowledge of their social security numbers. Students under 18 will be given a form that is to be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Frequent breaks are scheduled and a vending area will be made available for student use. Students should bring coins if they anticipate using the drink and snack machines.
